Bewegungsstiftung supports where others stop supporting: where protest and public action are concerned. It does not act charitably, as many other foundations do, but tackles social ills at the roots by supporting social movements as engines of political change.
Bewegungsstiftung supports social change not only with its funding, but also with its investments. To this end, it invests its assets according to strict ethical-sustainable guidelines - in alternative housing and work projects, in ethically linked savings bonds and ecological investments.
Another special feature of Bewegungsstiftung is its democratic organisational structure. Founders, activists from the funded projects and experienced people from social movements decide together on the funding and further development of the foundation. The donors thus give their private assets to the collective decision-making processes of a community foundation.
